JOB SUMMARY:
Provides general support with data management primarily for investigators at the Center for Health Research. Performs data extraction, cleaning, organizing, and maintenance of data for all projects within the Center for Health Research.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger and the Center for Health Research in its efforts to provide quality patient care and quality research.
Works under the direct supervision of a senior Biostatistician with project-specific guidance from Investigators and Biostatisticians.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate quantitative information to investigators and other researchers.
Demonstrates sound judgment and resourcefulness.
Demonstrates advanced programming skills (SQL, SAS) and database development skills (ACCESS, Microsoft SQL Server) and the ability to instruct users on database capabilities.
Demonstrates knowledge of basic research methodology and research data collection.
Demonstrates ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor?s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or closely related field and minimum one year experience required.
OR
Associate degree with minimum four years experience in data management and data manipulation skills required.
Experience in data management, such as SAS, SQL, and Microsoft Access, preferred.
Experience with other programming languages or data extraction languages, such as Perl, Ruby, Python, Java, preferred
Experience in medical setting preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
